Swipe marks on brass 6.5prc

Well I got these from a pretty mild load of v565 at 55gr. I worked up to 58 and they never got worse. Virgin brass was tight going in and that what I attributed it too. It obviously adg brass.

Any ideas? Think about going up a little more in charge. This is coming out of a tikka chopped at 20”

How was the bolt lift after the Virgin was fired? Primers look fine. That doesn’t look like a legit ejector swipe.

The case heads of my ADG are all getting little swipes from the ejectors for some reason. I attribute it to being soft as baby shit. But Lapua doesn’t make 7 PRC yet lol. I’ll share a picture

These swipes are literally just from the pressure of the spring on the ejector.

Decrease your ejector spring pressure by shortening it a bit, polish the round end of ejector plunger with extra fine grit grit, or a buffing wheel. If you can't depress the ejector down with your thumb nail, it's excessive and unnecessary. You don't need 587# of spring force to eject a spent or loaded round.

I personally wouldn’t consider that swipes. If you start seeing the round ejector marks, then you’re probably getting there.

I’ve cut and stretched my spring to make it pretty weak. I can easily push it in with my finger, and it still leaves a very small dent and a swipe. I have three of the same actions with the same spring pressures and the only brass it does it on is ADG for some reason. Lapua and Alpha don’t do it.

Just virgin firing? Or additional loads? The few terminus I had, extreme ejector force, and rough ejector faces, swipe was bad on low psi loads. Been using adg Saum/prc in bat bumblebee and Vesper cant say I had any swipes during fireform or on additional reloads.

Additional shots as well. I shot my last batch of 6.5-7 PRC 4 times and it’d leave a little swipe every time. The defiance ejector has a round nose on it though.

Huh, maybe that's it! How's that cartridge run? My smith has that reamer and a 6.5-LRM which would be another 6-7gr capacity.

I think it’s going to be pretty good.My first barrel showed good promise with 156’s and 140’s. Easy accuracy and good speeds. Looking forward to the new barrel and testing it some more!
