Anyone tried the 280 gr or 300 gr A-Frames in their .444. Marketed as a pistol bullet, both of these are advertised as holding together at impact velocities of 3000 fps. That is above what the .444 will give at the muzzle so these sound like they would fit the application. Are they accurate? How do they perform on game?

I’m no “Daddy” but I did shoot a bull with a 300 gr 44 cal Swift A-Frame. It was in a sabot shot from my 50 cal muzzleloader so velocity was possibly comparable to what you would get in the 444. The bull was pretty much facing me and I hit him in the center of the chest. The bullet was recovered in a rear quarter. I thought I had found my forever muzzleloader bullet. The next year, Idaho changed the regs…

I did a frame in 357 mag rifle. It would punch thru a deer without any shock factor. As accurate as any other bullets i shoot. I prefer XTP bullets for deer but would use the a frame in 357 mag for moose.

Haven’t tried it myself but I think it would work great. Having said that, I would probably lean towards the 280 for a bit more speed.

I am getting 2325 fps with a 265 grain with Superformance factory ammo on my 444.
