I am getting ready to purchase my first pair of Swarovski glasses and am torn between the 10x42 and the 10x50. I have a pair of Razor 10x42 and like the 10x. Just didn't know if the 50mm made that much of a difference. I'm also curious if anyone is using the Outdoorsmans bino stud on their EL's and if it ever caused a problem with barrel alignment.

i use a different brand. Leica.

i kinda regret getting the 50's. they are significantly bigger and heavier. and IIRC i LOSE some POV. the salesman said i gain FOV, but i dont think so.

i would line up the specs and compare. but in all the binos, i think 10x42's are a great size for packing into the back country. if could go back, i would get 42's for sure.

no help with the stud..mine works awesome.

No doubt those 10x50's get a lot of respect, but when using 10x I've been very happy with my 10x42 EL SV's, a wonderful tool in a very handy package.

I'm very satisfied with the 42's. I've played with the 50's some and to me they are really heavy for what extra they give you.

I agree with the guys, the 42's give the best view for the buck..the weight gain for 2 minutes of extra viewing at dusk isn't worth it for the 50's. If you want a larger FOV in 42 look at the Zeiss SF, a great bino that feels very light in hand, because of the balance point of offset lenses.

Chances are, if you are older, your pupils will not dilate large enough to utilize the 5mm exit pupil. 10x42's would be my choice and is what I carry.
