Whats everyones thoughts on the Swaro CL Companions? I have been thinking they may make a nice pair for timber hunting and archery. I already have the SLC 8x42 binos so these would be a light weight and compact addition. What say you?

The view looks the same to me but not as good in low light which is to be expected. They did not fit my face the same as my slc's, I had to maneuver them a little bit to get them to line up to the eyes right, the eye relief didn't appear to be the same. My slc's I can throw up and see everything just perfect, they just fit me better. The companion is a good pair of glasses if they work for you though.

It seems most of the bird guys like the Zeiss Conquests in 8x32 but I have not looked thru those yet.

I have the last gen cl companions in 10x30. The smaller objective (compared to 10x42 slc HD) gives up about 10 minutes of detail at first and last light both in the open and dark elk timber I hunt. I can tell legal vs not legal and general frame but won’t be counting inches until later light.

For the weight savings they are usually my main binoculars. I keep them in a chest harness with me at all times usually picking them over my slcs for back country hunts.

Not as clear edge to edge as the slcs and definitely not in the category of the els with sv but for the weight and compactness some of the best glass I have ever owned.

I haven’t looked through the updated version yet and not sure if is HD or not. The older pair handle CA amazingly. The only complaint I have with them is that they produce a lot more glare when looking directly into the sun than you might get with your SLCs
