Thank you, so setting the magnification to 9.7 on the app would for the most part line it up.if you really dive into it you will find that the Swaro calculator does not line up with the cited reticle sibstensions of the BRH. I can only speak to the 3-10 z3 but the actual magnification of that at top end is 9.69 and not 10. Most people don’t realize it, hit a 20 inch steel target at range and call it good, but not correcting for this makes a big difference at range.
Now for what you are trying to do with lower power you can take a formula for
max power/magnification * mil holdover = mil at magnification. Example: 9.69/4 * 2.5 = 6 mils
I have played around with it a bit and it gets to complicated in a shooting situation to remember all the different holdovers at different mags. In addition the mil is going to increase quite a bit at 4x vs max so it’s kind of counter productive as the result is for a longer range but you don’t have the mag to do it. The best use for what your trying to do from what I have found is picking something like 6x where you can still make a a shot at a reasonably longer range if your bullet drops are not lining up with the mil increments. Holdover reticles work best for quick decisions.
If you really want to have accurate results at different mag ranges I would consider a BDC dial or perhaps a FFP reticle. I favor the former in SFP as visibility on FFP reticles are not ideal for me on low mag in low light when I take most of my shots.
