Curious if anyone has some experience or tips to share when looking for a used Swaro spotter. Have my eyes set on a 20-60x ATS/STS 80.

Things to ask buyer?

Does getting serial number help research model and specs?

Proof of purchase to make sure warranty transfers over?

Is there big differences from older models from newer versions. Upgrades to glass/coatings...Different materials used?

Serial number is very important. get it and call Swaro and they can tell you everything about the optic.
Also, Swarovski can tell you who original owner was, if registered, if ever in for repair, date of manufacture, etc.
The warranty will transfer, but the current owner will need to inform Swarovski that it is sold and you are the new owner.
Get good clear close up photos of the optic also.

Excellent. This is what I needed. Wasn’t sure. Really appreciate feedback.

Have you decided if you want straight or angled eyepiece? I tried both and use a straight eyepiece now.

I have a straight now and am leaning in that direction. I typically get high and then glass ling distances so straight suits my glassing style. Also, just a slight easier to pack.

Was considering the angled but want to load both on my Silk 234 and see how it handles them. Thinking the angled will keep me closer to the ground for better stabilization in windy conditions.

Why do you prefer straight?

I bought some used swaro SLCs and everything transferred over fine and even though they need repair swaro fixed them at a very low cost. Swarovski is a very good company and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy used again. Do what LA Hunter said and go for it.

Buy an HD version with the magnesium body. As good as that model gets in my opinion....I have one (65mm) and have used it for 8 seasons now and am not looking to change. The HD has superior resolution to my eye, especially above 35x. I also use a
Phone Skope quite a bit so like the HD version. Good luck with it.

+1 on serial number and have Swarovski check it for being stolen and if registered.. Swarovski customer service is top notch!!!
