I had a BTX eyepiece on a 95 objective. I really enjoyed it, but I ended up selling it because it was angled. I like my eyepieces straight and not angled. Angled for me is a pain in my neck literally when glassing steep terrain downhill. Not that this would ever happen, but who would like to see the BTX offered in a straight eyepiece?

Yep, wish mine was angled but it’s better than a twin spotter setup in terms of bulk. I’m not holding my breath for a straight version

Yes, I would love to see a straight version! It’s a pain switching back and forth between binos on the tripod. That said, that’s about way I would part with my BTX.

That’s classic!

In all seriousness though, I do like keeping them close to the ground since they are so heavy, and the angled eyepiece does help with that.

Isn’t it weird seeing everything upside down? I think it would be even harder to switch to your binoculars…

I'd still have them if they were in a straight eyepiece. My 15s do fine until that day comes, probably a little more backcountry friendly too.

Have any of you guys used the 1.7x magnifier on the BTX? I am thinking about getting one but not sure if it would darken the image alot more than with the ATX or STX. Anyone who's got experience with it, especially in evening/morning lighting, I'd appreciate your thoughts

I didn't really experience darkening with the magnifier on the BTX, but the heat waves drove me nuts. I ended up getting rid of the magnifier. Seems like it just brought magnified the waves a lot more. Not so much during the morning and evening, but it was bad during the day. The magnifier brings things a bit more, but didn't think it was worth fighting the waves.

thanks for the experience. I end up using my 15s alot because of the heat signature. I am pretty certain that during the sunny conditions and at ground level I will not be able to use it. Alot of my glassing with the spotter are from a high, steep vantage point so the ground is not too close in my view to create the waves. I'm just wondering after you mention that, if it would even show up in the conditions I typically use the 35x?

That's the type of terrain I'm hunting in too. I didn't take the magnifier in the backcountry with me. I didn't want the extra weight and it really didn't impress me enough to the point of I where I thought it was gonna improve my glassing. I wanted to get a magnifier cause it peaked my interest and I had to see what it was like. I ended up selling it for almost what I paid for it. I guess I at least got to see what it was like. Just my opinion.

seems like I've seen the same thoughts from a bunch of you guys... I still might see if I can find a used one to try, may just turn around and sell it but who knows, maybe I'll find a use for it. Thanks guys

Love it, was scrolling down to recommend exactly what you did. Flip the scope and then it is effectively a straight eyepiece on flat ground when looking downhill.
