Can some one tell me or several people chime in as to what and why they like swaf I’m scope shopping but I have never looked through or dialed one I hear they are very reliable I’m used to variable power ranges but I’m not opposed to a fixed 6 or 10. So what and way and what calibers are you putting these on. I also understand you don’t need a 25 power scope to shoot 1k yards it would be for hunting and longer range steel ringing.

SWFA fixed power scopes reliably hold zero and track very well at a price that no other reliably tracking scope can be purchased at. That’s the entire appeal.

Yeah the main draw is FFP and great dialing for under 1k. The optics aren’t terrible, either. I’ve definitely looked through better, but considering the cost and the other benefits it’s a no brainer.

What is glass quality close too Nikon monarch glass, I’m also curious about their ultralight line for a variable seems like a good price but I didn’t come up with much else because it didn’t have exposed turrets and I’m looking for a scope to dial

I‘ve owned the 6x and the 3-9. The glass on the 3-9 is visibly better than the 6x, but the 6x is not terrible and likely would never cause anyone to miss a shot opportunity. I much prefer the 3-9 though as it’s smaller too. Both have dialed perfectly every time.

It doesn't matter how clear the glass is if the scope doesn't dial correctly or return to zero. The glass isn't swaro quality but the clarity is just fine for 95% of shooters. My buddy has a vx5 that is very clear but every time we shoot at distance it doesn't return to zero. Cool, he can see the target a fraction better than I can but I can actually hit what I am aiming at. He recently sold his vx5 and bought a 3-15 swfa with no regrets. I highly doubt you will be disappointed especially for the cost.

We've had 10 or 12 now. Mostly 6x and 10x milquads. Do have a couple of 3-9. I think the 6 and 10 have better feeling clicks though all 3 have dialed quite well. For the price point, nothing comes close to them for tracking and reliability. I killed a bear at 600 using a 6x version. Probably on a dedicated big game rig I'd go 6x still out to that range or a touch more.

If you are looking for reliability in tracking at a decent price point (MARCH and Khales are out for price reasons, though do have a reputation of tracking well) I would point you to either the SWFA 3-9 or the Nightforce SHV 3-10. The SHV is 1 ounce heavier but nearly 2" shorter and quite literally bulletproof. Nice compact unit.

thats kinda where I was leaning towards although I thought a fixed 10 or 6 would be sweet on a 7mm wby mag

They do carry Nightforce. Not sure what their stock is like though. I know Prophet River Firearms up here in Alberta had one left last week.

I have a 3-15 SS along with a couple of the fixed versions (6X and 10X). You cant beat the value. They track very well; have huge elevation range and are very rugged. They also have a lifetime warranty should you ever need it. The 3-15 is on my Anschutz 64 MPR. I like it a lot. Only issue for me is that the eye box is a bit touchy but the image is clear.

I'm not sure how it compares to Monarch glass. Don't take that as a knock on the scope, just trying to set your expectations correctly. Like another guy mentioned, clarity means absolutely nothing if the dialing doesn't work correctly.

All of this means nothing, however, if you're not planning on dialing. SWFA makes an awesome scope, but if I was looking for a set it and forget it scope I may look at Swaro or something else in that price range... I've had zero issue with mine keeping zero, but I don't dial with it.

Post an WTB ad on snipershide for what you’re looking for, I bought my 10x42 gently used with rings and butler creek caps for $200 within a couple hours of posting.

Thank you. That was somehow easier to real than a few of the posts in this thread....

SWFA typically has a tax day sale.
