Those of you that are planning to hunt units 71/711 in the 4 corners area of SW Colorado ,be aware of3 fires that started yesterday. The wind has been blowing like hell for 3 days and is forecast to not quit for another couple of days. All of the fires were started by dry lightning and the forest service doesn't know when they will be able to control them. They are blowing out of the sw. The fires started near Bradfield Bridge and the Glade west and nw of McPhee Res.

I wish that we could have burn bans basically everywhere at this point. We just got a couple of storms the past week but everything has been so crispy. It seems like they just wait as long as possible, trying to get past 4th of July which, I can understand but do we really need to wait for a burn ban until after people light off fireworks all over crispy national forest and BLM while they are intoxicated?

Open fires are banned in the county, blm and national forest, have been since early June. These fires were started by lightning. I have a place that records lightning strikes and it recorded over 700 in our area. The winds are still blowing like hell this morning.
