I have Suunto and a G Shock with those features. They're not accurate enough to fly a plane, but for trekking and such they're good enough to see where you're at on a map. Just make sure to check their accuracy and recalibrate before you set off on each trek.

I had one that was a compass and altimeter. Could never keep it calibrated. Chucked it and went back to g shock and a button compass.

I have the Casio Protrek...great watch. The compass, barometer, altimeter all work excellent. The alarm chime could be louder, my G-shock is louder.
I used the Protrek compass more on Kodiak in the fog than I did my Garmin GPS while mountain goat hunting.

I really wanted a Suunto, but their reputation for LEAKING is all over the web. I like to swim and I'm not taking off my watch to do so.

i recently sold my vector. i had worn that watch everyday for years, including lots of time in the pool. never had a single issue out of it other than the fact that they have to be calibrated all the time. i just came to the realization that it was just too complicated for me and if i wanted to use it to it's full capacity i would have to carry the manual around to try and figure out what i was doing.

I have a Suunto X lander which is a great watch. I looked at the GPS versions but was turned off them by the battery life when using it as a GPS. You really need to carry a proper GPS if you need one.

I have a suunto core, only complaint I have is the altimeter definitely doesn't stay calibrated, it seems to stay in the ball park when out in the mountains on foot but really goes hay wire when traveling in a vehicle from one location to another, but I got it fairly cheap and still take it with me

I have a Core. I really do like it, but the battery life is not great, changing the battery is a pain and mine requires premium brand batteries. I don't mind calibrating it. You just have to remember to do it when you get to your hunting area. The factory band broke within 3 months so I got a cool band of of Ebay that I like better anyway.
I will say, my watch was a gift from my father in law. If it were my money I would buy a nice "traditional" watch and use something dedicated for the other features.

This will be an everyday watch. I will use it while on shift at the fire department, at home and when I go hunting. I use a g shock right now. I got the one where you can program the moon phases and has the tide graph. Right now they have the suunto core on eBay for $184 shipped

I've had one for the past year and i'm still not sure how I like it.They are very complicated watches so i'm still getting used to it.
One thing I have noticed is that I dont like it on shift at the fire department. I like my Luminox way more for the FD.

The Suunto's are big watches and can be annoying while bunked up.

That price of premium batteries and having to change them is enough right there to move on for me...but to each his own.
My Protrek is powered BY LIGHT.
Love it, never needs a flipping battery.

I have similar feelings. Wore a Luminox for years and thru countless adventures on and off shift. It took my 3yo son (trying to hand it to daddy) to drop it out of the jeep to end its life.

Replaced it with a G-shock Mudman and find it a little bulky when bunked out. Can't imagine what a giant Suunto would be like.

Ill echo this.... I have the prw 6000-y

Yep, I have the PRW-5000Y and wear it daily and love it. I don't use the ABC functions all that often but it's nice to know they are there. You also need to understand the limitations of the altimeter and barometer and the factors that affect them.

I had a Vector that I wore for years, until it finally died.
I was never very impressed by it. Poor battery life, compass and altimeter always needed calibration, face scratched easy.

However, far and away what I liked most about it (which I didn't find out until after I quit wearing it) was just how comfortable it was to wear. It was noticeably lighter and sat on my wrist nicer than the Casio Pathfinder that replaced it. For such a large watch the ergonomics were dialed.
