Suppressors that disappointed you and why?

A lot of folks are happy with the Dead Air Nomad TI XC. It's a company with a proven track record and decent performance. There's a whole mountain of really bad quality control from Unknown that I find impossible to ignore when considering a safety-critical item like a suppressor. If I'm going to roll the dice on a new suppressor company it's Airlock industries with their crazy light yet better performing cans.

I love my Otter Creek Labs (Poloniums and Hydrogens) if you're looking for another quality, good performing option.
There is a mountain of qc issues with dead air as well.

DA proven track record? Have we forgotten about the sierra fiasco already? And keymo issues?

Have there been a lot of issues with the Nomad TI XC? Obviously the Scythe has issues, but I wasn't aware of anything with the Nomad...

Not sure on the nomad ti xc, but they had issues with the nomad ti blowing apart. And the sierra deal was a giant mess. I think they make great suppressors, but they went through a period of bad qc and their customer service was lacking pretty bad. Hopefully they got all that sorted out.

Right, but the XC is 3D printed without welds that failed on the original correct?

edit - just to add, I don't own one of these and have just observed it being recommended here often as an in-stock, semi affordable and good performing option with not mentions of failures for this specific can.

Otter Creek anything is pretty bulletproof though and I have several of those.

As someone with three Nomad Ti’s that needed repair due to cracked welds you can lob that pile of bullshit on to KGM who made both the Nomad TI and Sierra 5 suppressors for Dead Air.

My dealings with them were pretty much abysmal and even after they took several months to fix them they ended up sending back my suppressors full of sand blast media. Not suspecting that was even a possibility I found out about it the hard way after the first shot loosened it and dropped it into the action when I set the rifle on the rack. Luckily it was in my custom that I can take the barrel off because I had to completely tear my rifle apart down to the individual components to remove all of the media then spend an hour or so per can washing all the media out of the suppressor.

To Dead Air’s credit they did give me several hundred dollars worth of Xeno Mounts and muzzle devices to make up for the issues that I had.

That sucks! I wouldn't trust dead air at all if I had to go through that ordeal. I probably would have told them where they can shove those mounts.🤣

Where are the QC issues with Unknown Suppressors? Plenty of reports that the OG might be louder than people expected, but I never saw any reports of “bad quality control.”

In this case it was all KGM, the unit was shipped too and sent from their facility so while Dead Air’s name is on the can it was KGM that was handling the manufacturing and repair work. And they proved exactly how little they give a shit about their customers especially when they can hide behind another brand.

The entire Sierra 5 shit show was due to KGM’s poor manufacturing and QC but Dead Air took the major hit to their reputation because of it.
