Suppressors that disappointed you and why?

After having an AB Warthog and the UM OGL, my Banish Backcountry will probably stay in my safe. Definitely not worth the price IMO.

Deadair Sandman-L simply because it's unwieldy for the majority of things I do these days. It's an absolute tank of a can if that's what you need though. I've dropped it on concrete and it was completely unphased.

Griffin obsidian 45- while I have grown to think all pistol suppressors are useless, this one especially annoys me. It comes loose at every bit that has threads on it. You really have to stay on top of tightening it before it disassembles itself.

Gemtech Tracker 30 cal. 18" 30-06. Too loud and heaven forbid I want to shoot 5 or 6 rounds in succession, POI shifts about 2moa right & down. Love all my other cans. Trying to figure out what to replace the Gemtech with or if I should just bag it and screw on a 24" tube.

JK Armament Versax.

Really just anything JK Armament it seems like.

Bought their 45 cal version, and to make it 45 cal they had just drilled out their aluminum 9mm version and left the aluminum in the white. They drilled it AFTER their anodizing.

I also bought a few end caps from them, including one in 9mm, and it wasn’t just the wrong end cap they sent, it was a 9mm end cap that was too small for safe use. At the time they sold - I think - four end caps, a 22, a 30 cal, 9mm, and 45. The bore size of the 9mm end cap they sent me was 0.38”, way too small. It wasn’t their 30 cal end cap either, which was a different bore diameter.

When I emailed them about leaving the aluminum raw after just drilling it out, they said something to affect of, “our aluminum is the highest tensile strength, and it will be covered in carbon soon anyways”.

Apparently they’re unaware that aluminums anodizing is incredibly important for suppressor durability and wear, and that just crudely drilling out your 9mm suppressors to 45cal after anodizing looks janky as all get out.

Plus it’s loud as heck.

So, I’d avoid JK Armament personally. You can tell they’re basically just a solvent trap manufacturer.

I found mine was light and loud. Not a good choice for a fixed breech. Now I did find a home for it on an AR. They are not quiet anyway, so it works ok. But definitely one I would not buy again.

I was talked into a YHM nitro 20 for 50% off. The salesman said I could run it on my 6.5 Creedmoor, that was for about 20 shots until it blew in half. First can and I learned to do actual research.

Im disappointed that I got a scythe rather than another nomad ti that I went to get. Obviously the why is the whole blowing up part. That said I keep it on a 223 and it works wonderfully there. I could be wrong but I have no fears of it blowing up on a 223. The 223 has to have one on it anyway and it's pretty short and light.

I kinda regret my 9mm and 45 pistol cans. They are more novelty than anything. The only use they generally get now is if the wife is shooting while my 3 year old is around or if I decide to hunt with 460 Rowland subs. Also the energetic arx (which they don’t sell anymore) I was expecting to be slightly quieter, but it serves my purpose of a 556/6mm can I can absolutely burn down without fear and weighs next to nothing.

I would still rather be the guy who wishes he would have chose a different suppressor than the guy who refuses to use them or is worried about being on "the list".......grin.

That’s how I feel about pistol and rimfire suppressors.

Except my rimfire can on 17hmr. That makes sense to me.
