Suppressor Cover Needed?

I'm curious about the need for having a suppressor cover. Recently won a suppressor at a banquet and decided to upgrade it to a 30 cal to put on all of my rifles. What is the purpose of having the cover other than keeping it clean? Thanks in advance for all the helpful replies and hilarious roasts.

I use a cover to reduce migrate as it heats up. And, to take it off when hot.

Protection is nice too, but that’s only cause I don’t treat my rifles like fragile sticks.

I recently got one for Christmas from a friend's recommendation. It's made by T&K Hunting Gear. It's not bad. I am likely not cinching it hard enough because it migrated when using it on one of my ARs. But it did extremely well with mitigating the mirage when using a LPVO on the rifle.

I second the Burn Proof Gear - it is an expensive accessory, but between removal and mirage mitigation, the cost is well worth not getting burned physically!

If you're hunting with it, not needed. If you're doing rapid fire (whatever your definition is) then you might want it.
I would not say that a suppressor cover is never needed hunting.

Most of the time it is not needed while big game hunting. But, I have seen rare occasions that enough shots are fired at long range and it matters for mirage.

I use one at the range to help reduce mirage. I also use one when hunting with my Ti cans, it seems to help remove the tinny tone they can produce.

Necessary, no. Helpful for mirage, you bet.

I just got a Scythe-Ti and likely won’t use a cover since some covers can add 5oz or more which is more than half of what the can weighs.

The silicone sleeve covers like the Weka MOA Stealth control mirage and only weigh a few ounces.
