super down pants or montbell ultra lights any one use either?

I was in the same boat and decided on the Mont Bell UL Tec down pant. haven't used it yet though. I like how some sections are reinforced and others aren't where they aren't needed. You can't go wrong with either im guessing.

the tec look good, had the kuiu but decided to change to kryptek so never used them and sent all the kuiu back a few years ago. not sure i made the right choice years later. i would only wear them in my tent for the most part so uncertain i need reinforced butt etc.... been thinking about them for a while especially for winter mountaineering ski touring etc..... guess that is subject to change as far as usage. i am sure you are right any will due as far as mentioned brands as well as some others, thanks.

I have some down puffy pants from Western Mountaineering called the flash pants that are pretty nice and have been using them a little over a year now.

And if I look less than thrilled its cause the weather was down to the deck hampering our scouting trip ;)

Reason I went with these over the superdown pants is for one I will only be wearing them under my rain shell while I am sitting somewhere or while I am in the tent so the risk of getting them wet is very low so I didn't feel the need for "super down." The bigger reason is that the WM flash pants actually have over 20% more down in them (2 oz vs. 1.6 oz of the Kuiu) and the while the Kuiu superdown pants actually weigh 50% MORE than the WM flash pants.

So overall the WM flash for my uses is a better value given their slight weight and more insulation in comparison to the Kuiu super down.

You can get them here:

Hope that helps.
