I find myself wearing sunglasses all the time but squint it out on a backpack hunt because of the bulk of carrying shades and a case. I also worry about glare. I miss wearing them though and feel I can see better wearing quality sunglasses. Are they worth throwing in the pack?

As much as I enjoy a nice pair of polarized sunglasses, I don't wear them in the backcountry. But I don't wear them when I practice shooting either. That's just me.

I always wear them. Used to wear the high end oakleys and such. Now with work I go through a pair of polarized edge safety glasses about every six months. they are only 30 bucks or so and I dont notice a difference compared to the high end stuff. If they are not on my face or my head I wrap then in a microfiber cloth and they go in a pocket. Never go anywhere without them. Constant squinting against the sun gives me an awfully nice headache.

When I'm wearing my contacts I wear super cheap polarized sunglasses, something that I don't really care about. I hate wearing contacts in the backcountry though because they are such a pain. My prescription sunglasses are very expensive Costa's and I have a rigid Molle case for them when I'm not wearing them. I currently have the Condor one, but am considering giving the Hazard 4 a try. That being said, I am a sweater and if I am on a tough hike, I will often just take them off because they are just fogging up anyways. This is IMO the major downside rather than having to deal with a case and bulk. If I didn't need prescription, I would just get some $30-40 glasses and just consider them disposable.

Sunglasses are considered one of the ten essentials. Anybody who has been stuck on a snowfield dealing with snow blindness knows why they are on that list.

So yes I always have my sunglasses with me and when hiking am most likely wearing them. When on backpack hunts they basically stay in a pocket in one of those little socks that doubles as a lens cleaner. When hunting I like to add black facepaint "MLB style" under my eyes which does help with glare. But when crossing snow fields the sunglasses are mandatory.

I love my Smith's, but I mostly hunt in the deep dark timber so rarely ever wear them while hunting. But if I go backpack mode, a lot of times I'm at 12k feet so above timberline, so I take them.

I never go anywhere without mine, including the mountains. If I don't need them they just go in my lid pocket. I have been using Natives for the past 6-7 years or so, and if I can't take that hard case they come with with me in my pack, I need to just stay home because there would be too much other junk in the pack.

I never go afield without sunglasses. I have one pair, prescription Costas. Worth every penny and ounce. I only have one pair of eyes, so I do everything I can to protect them from the sun and that proverbial poke in they eye with a sharp stick. I use one of the Croakie retainers that is nylon cord with the rubber ends that slide over the end of the temples.

I live, work and fish in my Smiths. the model that fits me best are the polarized "Proof' . That being said I cant hunt with shades.
I have seriously thought about trying clear safety type glasses for hunting,(better than a stick in the eye).
any one done this? i dont wear glasses, they would just be for brush busting.

I wear a cheap set of polycarbonate shaded glasses for work. So I just wear when I'm out. They are like $1.50 so if any thing happens to them it's not an issue.

X2 for Edge in the woods. Cheap, decent polarization, and they're safety glasses so you SHOULD be ok with the stick to the eye situation.

I've tried all kinds of glasses, but when I am at full draw with my bow, the inside rim of the glasses blocks my line of sight to the target.

Anyone crack this nut?

I used to forgo sunglasses, even though I wear them daily around town. I've recently began to bring them + case despite the weight penalty.
