Anybody have experience with this outfit in Montana? They have a reference list on their website but would rather hear from some of the non-cherry picked sources. I can't seem to find much about them on any of the other hunting forums. Shoot me a pm if you want. Any info is helpful.

Tons of reviews online but most of them are for trail rides or a good night at the restaurant.

WKR @Deadfall guides for the outfit and can probably answer some of your questions. Or you can call the owners themselves. I emailed them early this year and Nikki was very responsive and accomodating.

Sun canyon lodge.
Josh and Nikki carlbom.

I hunted the Bob last fall west of Swift Dam trailhead and the animals were extremely scarce. There are better areas to hunt if your priority is killing an animal. If scenery is the priority and punching a tag is icing on the cake, the Bob is extraordinary.

Deadfall ,my son and I are going in 25' to Sun Canyon on a late Nov. lodge combo hunt. What will that hunt be like and what should our expectations be?

Bar, location, and restaurant are good, that’s my only experience at the lodge. Hope for early snow if hunting the front range. You can check the Augusta MT game check stats for an area reference.

We did a semi-drop camp a few years ago. First class efficient outfit. Honestly I have not paid for many hunts but after that experience I wonder how they could make money. I thought it was expensive until we did it. Top notch stock, camps, people etc. No-nonsense business.
Would highly recommend them, would be my first choice for a family pack trip. The elk density when we were there archery is a whole other subject in the Bob.

Expect to hunt hard everday. expect to be cold. Expect to ride a couple hours everday in the dark one way. Then glass and walk. The daily hunts will vary depending on where you hunt that particular day. The accomdations at lodge are top notch. Sometimes elk are everywhere and sometimes they are nowhere. Most times that changes by the day.

Be in best possible shape! You will need to be able to climb rough terrain to get to where bulls are hanging. There are a couple places we ride to and sit. They are usually only used for out of shape guys. Those spots can be productive if elk are moving to game range. Which they usually do at night. Mostly that time of year bulls are held up in high quiet pockets.
