My parents live down in the Bitterroot. We prefer the western side of the state but have found a few places farther east that I wouldn't mind living. We have a friend north of Ft Peck but that area is a little too open for us and the winters are a little more extreme for a coastal folk. I do enjoy hunting the east side though. The breeder is in Whitehall and the other 3 older ones are in Helena. Lol you don’t feel like coming to Texas to visit with detour through SLC do ya?
I met a guy a few weeks ago at the county fair in Hamilton that has some nice packers. He's working on his breeding program and should have some nice goats coming. Bitterroot packgoats I think is the name of his operation. You can find him on Packgoatcentral.com .
Be sure you are buying stock from people who actually pack with them. A lot of people selling pack prospects yet they don't pack and have no idea yet want to cash in on the higher prices for packers.
Ask them how many trail miles they actually put on in a season.
Maybe someday I'll run into you at a NAPGA Rendy. Totally worth going to.
