Suggestions for hunting headlight

I have a BD storm 350 and like everything about it, especially the green light for dark woods walking, but mine burns through batteries. I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my particular unit or if that’s just how that model is.

I have the same light and the battery life sucks on mine too. It's my only complaint about it and glad to know I'm not alone.

Black Diamond Storm.. It's only 350 lumens max but that's plenty for walking out.
It has red & green lights, it's dimmable plus it's waterproof. Best all around IMO

I have had two storm models, one at least 8 years old and the other I got two years ago to leave up at my cabin. My older model is my daily use light and local ingress/egress light to the stand. I have frozen it into a shoreline only to be found next year. Works just like brand new. Gasket has not failed and elastic still stretches. It mostly gets warn around my neck upside down so it doesn't shine every which way when dodging obstacles. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you need more light, I get it, but I know this model to be bomb proof.

I’ve still got my Princetontech Aurora in my pack that I bought in 2002.

The last couple years it has become my backup.

My primary is Olight S1r which is my edc light now. Pocket clip doubles as a bill clip for my hat. Brightness settings from moonlight to enough to shine a tree while coon hunting. It will run on the furnished rechargeable or a disposable CR123.

I just got a Nitecore I think the 65. It's a thousand lumins and it's rechargeable. Has a super bright red too.

The best prices on lights I have found is mountain electronics... if u haven't been to there web page u should.... they have the best prices and they build some of there on lights in house... they sell housing and parts so u can even make ur on lights if u so desire

I tried 2 different BD Storm 350's. They both ate batteries at an alarming rate. I loved it when it worked. Very bright and great color options.

I hate my Black Diamond Spot. It's not user friendly, atleast for me. I have a bunch of the cheaper model pretzel lights and a few rechargeable nitecore lights that I use the most.

While you may want bright light, I don't think someone's needs high lumens at night to see and move about effectively. I use both an HDS flashlight and Zebralight headlamp at night and prefer using them at low lumens.

I was bushwhacking last Monday night using just 9 lumens with my HDS and it was enough light to move around the woods. If you need more light, click it to the next level.
