My year started with drawing 4 Nevada tags. Antelope, cow elk, late buck deer and desert bighorn! It was a little too much so I turned in the antelope tag. A guy still has to work, unfortunately.
I managed to get the cow elk done on opening day.
The deer season was very fun waiting for something decent to show itself. Ended up not being quite what I was looking for but there’s something really fulfilling in bedding a deer, formulating a plan and it works to a T. Although I was prone and the first time in my life scoped the crap outta my face. Ouch!
Just killed the bighorn yesterday. Spent 8 days over several weekends looking for rams. I couldn’t find anything! It was extremely discouraging and at one point I was glassing and thinking about needing to paint the bathroom. That’s when I knew I needed to regroup.
This weekend I picked a ridge and hiked in and finally spotted the guy you see here. Thankfully with some hard work I was able to get into position and get it done. I was by myself so the pack out was grueling!
None of these hunts were pack in but I sure was thankful for my Kifaru DT2 which I have been using as my daypack for the last several years and am loving the Kimber Hunter with a Swaro Z3.
Also thankful to Rokslide for all the good info over the years. Appreciate you guys.
