I had some great success this past weekend. I was exploring some new country with family and some friends, when I came across this guy. I was actually putting a stock on another small four point, when I busted out a doe and fawn. Expecting the buck to have busted out just before the doe, I proceeded forward to look into the coulee in chance that the buck would be looking back like muleys do. Just when I got to the edge were I was about to peer over, I caught some movement to my right out of my peripheral vision. As I turned my head, two bucks were in the process of busting out and shortly after a big two point busted. As luck would have it; I was able to turn, draw, estimate the range and let my arrow fly. Piercing my buck forward on the shoulder, and busting out the other side grazing his last rib. I'm grateful that I've spent countless hours shooting in my basement and outdoors to develop the muscle memory to perform a quick shot and the time spent looking at various photos for proper shot placement. All this happened with in seconds and I know if I hadn't spent the time, I wouldn't have been able to connect with this beautiful buck.
