Subsonic bullet options for .355-.357dia

Where i have some hunting access is a small parcel and would like to keep the noise down during our straight wall "primitive" season. Its a thick area so its basically bow range only. How effective are most pistol bullets; from what i can find the info varies, usually by typical opinion without first hand experience.
350L is the cartridge of choice. i have 147gr sig v crown and 158gr vintage hornady SPHP in .357 dia on hand. It seems no one local carries the 250gr sub x, which seems to have lack luster reviews.

I can just stick with the bow in there, but with just a little extra "easy" from a rifle, i would like to utilize it if its "feasible".

2nd question if it is feasible, high/forward CNS or lung shots like a bow?

Check out the .355 205g from Maker bullets with Lil Gun. Treat shots like a bow shot. They open very wide but will have limited penetration. Those pistol bullets will just pencil through at 1050 fps.

Pistol bullets (aka self defense) in 9mm are meant to work in the 1000fps area. Now, penetration may be an issue as they dont have a ton of energy.

I only used 147g variety 9mm pistol bullets in my testing. It was tough to get consistent velocity near 1050 and performance was poor in milk jugs; very little expansion. 147 xtp were down right bad. Honestly, 170 Hornady and Win 180 SP also barely expanded at 2100. I use a 150 Maker at 2350 for my primary hunting load. May try the new 170 Barnes some day.

I'm just sharing my experience trying to save you some components and wounded game. For subsonic hunting, that 205 Maker is the only good choice IMHO, and you will be limited to broadside lung shots.

That's interesting. I saw alot of issues with ftx bullets not expanding much.
Seems the v crown and old school lead nose jhp seem to expand decent at those speeds. I posted videos i found tests on in another thread in a different sub forum. Either way, its all info im taking into consideration.

I can share some subsonic recipes for the 205 Rex (Maker bullets) and 180 Winchester power point. You don't want to use the later for hunting but it's fun for plinking. I don't have the loads committed to memory right now so would need to check my notes.

I assume you have a silencer? If not, the loads will still be loud. I have a YHM R9.
