Sub-sonic loads in a .308??

Is anyone shooting suppressed subsonic with a 308 1:10"? I have a 1:8" 16.5" Proof but a buddy is trying to figure out if the 1:10" will stabilize them enough...and obviously not have baffle strikes with a can
Mine is a 1:10. No issues with 200gr Berry's and 190 sub-x. Definitely shoot without the suppressor first and make sure you're not getting keyholes.

180 grain Speer soft point, and 8 grains of Titegroup powder. A 200 grain pill would be better, but the Speer’s are dirt cheap and I can load them up for about 28 cents a round (not including brass). Super accurate out of my .308 ruger scout rifle, other than the fact that I have to dial up about 12 MOA at 100 yards lol.

Can anyone share load data? I tried the above Tightgroup load and F'd up my Ruger SFAR. Had to go back to Ruger.

I've reloaded for maybe 35 years. Doesn't mean I am a Pro. And as most have stated....there is ZERO Trail Boss around.

Next best 3 powders? I have several pounds of Unique but never saw Sub data for it in 308

How did you mess up the SFAR? The titegroup load I use is going out of a bolt gun, which I’d say 90% of people are doing the same when shooting sub .308. I would think that shooting subs out if an AR-10 (especially with a bullet under 200 grains) would be a pain in the butt with all the tuning and swapping out parts on the rifle needed. I could be wrong, but I’d assume that it’s not near as easy as switching between subs/supers on an AR-15 platform in 300blk.

How? Don't quote the load. But I seated a 168 AMax over Tightgroup. Somewhere around 8-10 grains. Had the can on and pulled the trigger.

It was stucker than stuck. Couldn't mortar it or get that case out. Couldn't break down the rifle. Lugs engaged.

Went back to Ruger.

Does/Did have adjustable block. Believe I had it turn OFF or on lowest setting yet still open.

I am NOT a gas gun nerd. I just wanted 300 BLK out in a 308 rig I already had. Had a coyote ******* w one of my dogs and with guns in every corner of the house didn't really have anything appropriate for a 0530 shot off the deck. SubSonic gas gun w can would have been nice. I just didn't have one that functions. Still dont.

Bought two boxes of Sellier 190 subs and leave the can on. So I do now. But I would like to find my own load and really play with it. Not ration one or two rounds at a time.

I’m in the process of working up a load for 190gr Sub-X. Accurate No. 2 has been excellent as far as grouping out to 100 yards. I’m still playing with the grains to get it quieter. I’ve tried Titegroup with a couple of loads and it has a lot of promise as well. Just need it to warm up in my neck of the woods so I can keep testing. I’ve started at the top of the Hodgdon loads and working down.

Like others mentioned, make sure they dont keyhole first without suppressor on. My Tikka T3 with 11 twist didn't stabilize the 190 sub x. The keyholed at 50 yards pretty good. The berger calc did mention that they were marginal for stability. So I picked up some hornady 170g flat points, that are 30-30, but given im gonna run them about 1050 or so, should be good. Berger calc had the. At 2.6 which is well withing stable range. They are shorter. I have a ladder of trailboss loaded up to check velos but been hunting alot and haven't shot them yet. Them next to 130 ttsx i use.

Read tons on old threads on the hide and seating depth doesn't matter with these. Some go to groove, while other went longer.

My hope is to get these to work to smack some hogs at 70 yards and in in the head.
