I hunted in a western Wyoming unit close to Yellowstone last week. Six days with a guide, never saw an elk. Saw grizzly bears, moose, wolves and mountain lions though. Had a great time ridding horses through the woods at night heading back to camp, had heat, snow, rain and everything in between.

Still disappointed, but I'll get over it eventually. They probably taste awful anyway...

I planned one hunt in what seemed like the world's most popular unit (for hunters). Spent an entire week without seeing an elk and could not seem to find a spot that wasn't getting hunted or had recently been hunted. It just makes the successful hunts that much sweeter!

That can be a tough pill to swallow, lots "tougher" than a freezer full of stupid elk meat. How many points did you have to use to draw your tag?

Shot my WY Elk last Wednesday, 410 yards from the highway. Was in the unit for a total of 4 hours.
We archery hunted several days here in OR and I never saw an Elk or heard a bugle, granted, I didn't give it much effort but this was the 1st time in my life I haven't heard a bugle during season here at home.
Sometimes it just works out, other times, not so much.
