What current government spending won't our grandkids be paying for? That's sort of the whole point with paying taxes, paying into social security etc.

Crazy talk, I know, expecting people to pay for their own college debt.

The FSA is always recruiting, you will make captain in no time with that attitude.

The farm services agency (fsa) also benefits from all sorts of government welfare.
Assuming 11boo is 11 bravo you also have benefitted from government assistance, although you obviously didn't make captain. Just another specialist leg talking chit around the smoke pit.

It is a matter of peoples comfort level. AK and WY are states that receive a ton of federal aid to allow them to have a functioning budget/state. Aka welfare states. CA, CO, nanny states, they provide the needed revenue to take care of welfare states. It seems is the handouts are not direct, people are comfortable benefiting from them.

We are all getting subsidized in the USA one way or another….

Agreed as are the things I posted. But I don't remember the group outrage over any of those programs.

I work for USDA as a Civil Engineer. The amount of $$$ FSA gives away for no good reason is unreal. We have to techically evaluate some of their programs. When we turn down payment for some POS installation we often get "can't we just get them a little $$$?" WTF, no.

Precisely
But after 90 years of that sort of handout, and the hundreds more of government inept money laundering schemes and pay for politician policies, not to mention the prison and military industrial complex the straw that gets caught in all these craws is this trifling loan forgiveness?

I wonder how many of the loudest detractors on this thread took advantage of some sort of program- I'd imagine it's most if not all.

Yea, she gator'd down like 200K. I'd be interested to see a breakdown of members and family members of Congress and the Senate that gobbled down on that abortion of legislation.
If eligible all good, the hypocrisy is the problem. Grandstanding against loan forgiveness when you took 20x as much…

An incomplete list but all of these members of congress condemned the $10k-$20k relief of yesterday

To be honest there is no longer a fiscally conservative party. . . Each party just has their pet projects they use to buy votes. I literally had farmers calling "tariff relief checks" their "vote for trump" money.

In the grand scheme of things $10,000 per borrower isn't shit. I'm 35 and social security will be insolvent before I get to it. . . But here I am paying away. We pour subsidies into rural America, to wealthy people no less, but cry fowl over this. It's just one more example of government waste. So if your upset then by all means be upset. But make sure to sharpen your pitch fork and grab a torch every year when both parties pander to their side by throwing away money!

I'm not loud, but on account of me you have to use most, not all.

And I agree. Most people have no idea (or dont care) the number of jobs and industries that are neck deep in the gov welfare teet. If our agency is an example of the greater whole, some try to have the programs show outcomes and justification, but it's like swimming against a tsunami.

While we are piling on not paying debts out of a matter of principle, guess we should be witch-hunting anyone who has ever filed for bankruptcy or defaulted on a loan.
