Well, just got back from 14 days in the Northern Rockies park in the muskwa/tuchodi area.

I'll try to keep it short with a few pics. Last year I took my first stone ram, so this year my parter had first pull, our goal was to get him a ram and then see how much time we had left.

we took the boat up the river as far as possible this year, then hiked a day and a half to our first drainage to hunt.

second day in we spotted some rams, moved in for a closer look bu they were all just young fellas. we spotted a Guide/Client/wrangler riding horses down the creek trail into where we were hunting. We decided it best to stay concealed, its best if the outfitter doesnt know we are heading into his honey hole.

We made camp in a high saddle to avoid the bears and have quick access to the higher peaks, two more days yielded a few young rams and literally hundereds of ewes and lambs, good to see numbers but not what we wanted.
Lastlight on day 5 i was making dinner and my partner whispers to get my ass on the spotter, legal ram.

We spent two more days chasing this old ram, he was broken on his left side, but easily full curl, he was solitary and hiding most of the day in the timber. We jjust couldnt get him in a good spot for my partner to shoot him. He gave us the slip a few times while losing sight of him on stalks.

While we were hunting this basin I kept spotting a band of rams, two drainages away, way deeper than we planned on going. After two days of the ram getting the better of us, i convinced my buddy to repack and head down the elk trails, towards those rams. it proved to be the right decision.

It was easy walking the creek bed into new country.

We spotted rams up this ridge in the shale/timber.

It took us two days to close the deal. We spotted a few rams that would have made anyones head spin on the day, still hunting through the timber until we had a good place to wqit for the rams to feed out. A beautiful 8 yr old, heavy broomed ram fed out, it took us a few minutes to age him. and then one shot from the 300wsm closed the deal

Thanks guys, felt good to get my buddy a ram. Pics dont do it justice, I couldnt even look at the skull in camp, super heavy and lots of character. We saw a half albino ram on the trip as well, white with black marking on the legs and face, we also saw a 7yr old ram with one horn missing. Stones are unique in that they all look different. Every ram is a trophy in my books
