Well, just got back from 14 days in the Northern Rockies park in the muskwa/tuchodi area.
I'll try to keep it short with a few pics. Last year I took my first stone ram, so this year my parter had first pull, our goal was to get him a ram and then see how much time we had left.
we took the boat up the river as far as possible this year, then hiked a day and a half to our first drainage to hunt.
second day in we spotted some rams, moved in for a closer look bu they were all just young fellas. we spotted a Guide/Client/wrangler riding horses down the creek trail into where we were hunting. We decided it best to stay concealed, its best if the outfitter doesnt know we are heading into his honey hole.
We made camp in a high saddle to avoid the bears and have quick access to the higher peaks, two more days yielded a few young rams and literally hundereds of ewes and lambs, good to see numbers but not what we wanted.
Lastlight on day 5 i was making dinner and my partner whispers to get my ass on the spotter, legal ram.
We spent two more days chasing this old ram, he was broken on his left side, but easily full curl, he was solitary and hiding most of the day in the timber. We jjust couldnt get him in a good spot for my partner to shoot him. He gave us the slip a few times while losing sight of him on stalks.
