Stone glacier xcurve vs kifaru lite frame?

Who has run both i am considering grabing a talus 6900 to try out and nothing i dislike about my kifaru stuff but that bag/frame intrigues me as they seem to be designed to run compressed better than anyone out there. Thanks for any input

I’m currently using the original XCurve with a 5900, a 44 Mag on an ultra lite frame and the new XCurve with the 6900 Talus.

You are correct in that nothing runs compressed better than SG. My Kifaru is limited to “heavy duty” use. Use the SG’s for everything else.

I agree with Kotaman. I run the new XCurve with the 6900 and the Solo, and I run the Kifaru Lite with a few different bags. I think SG packs compress better and are more functional when compressed. They do a really good job laying out the packs and zippers so that you can access the bag and pockets without dealing with a ton of straps.

I also prefer the XCurve frame for day hunting and backpacking weights. I think my heaviest pack out load I've done with the XCurve is probably in the 60-70 lbs range (it worked great) so I can't commit on how it does with really heavy weights compared to the Kifaru. I'm thinking the Kifaru would outshine it with really heavy weight.

I just had 100lbs in my Xcurve frame and it carried great. No hot spots or areas that didn't feel good. Again, the load stayed up on my hips even with 100lbs. I personally do not think any other frame would feel better.

I purchased the kifaru duplex lite and SG krux evo 40/56. My buddy has the SG xcurve 5900. I tested them all with heavy weight and ended up selling the kifaru and keeping the evo. All of them are amazing packs. The SG just fit ME better. Probably wouldn’t have noticed a difference if I didn’t have them side by side. Can’t go wrong so if there is a certain bag option you like from one or the other, go with that. Also if you like a meat shelf(I do) then the SG is hard to beat. If you just want to throw your meat in a contractor bag and toss it in quick a big kifaru is great. If I could I would have kept both and got the hoodlum bag but the old lady said pick one.

I have a kifaru tactical frame and fulcrum but like others, it gets saved for heavy work like moose hunting or when I’m dealing with my caribou all alone.

for most other stuff I prefer the stone glacier x curve 40/56 bag.

I have both and couldn’t make a decision on which one handles the weight better until this summer. I rotated each frame for my workouts and over the summer did 60 miles with 70lbs on each frame. Workouts were 4-6 miles at a ruck pace (as fast of hike without breaking into a jog) this was done in the mountains on trails.

The Kifaru was my choice at the end because of the suspension and my body felt less taxed consistently after using that frame. Over all fit I Love the x curve, it fits me like a glove but after looking back at my notes after each workout I determined the Kifaru to be more comfortable and handles the weight better. I still wouldn’t hesitate to take my xcurve with heavy weight. Both great packs. The Kifaru makes it feel like you are carrying less weight then you are.

I have hunted with both and hauled out 80lbs+ loads with both and would do it again. But with the 44mag and now the larger version Kifaru will be my choice. Those bags just equaled the game of you ask me.

Very informative. I was curious what you thought of the Kifaru shoulder straps? That was the only part that I felt SG was more comfortable.

SG rifle sling is meh. but luckily you can get a kifaru gun bearer and attach it to the SG

Agreed, Kifaru gun bearer is superior.
