How is the XCurve frame for hauling very heavy loads (meat from over half a bull elk plus the antlers and skull)? I've read a few places that the Kifaru frames are better suited for very heavy loads. True?

I think the top and bottom belt straps on the SG will help distribute the load evenly on your hip belt.

I know the frame won't break with more weight on it than I want to move, but does it loose functionality when pushed?

Thanks!

Umm, half an elk is like upwards of 125-150 lbs, plus skull and antlers, are you sure you're gonna haul that? Most people overestimate the weight they've hauled in the past, and probably aren't capable of what they think they are. So practically speaking, I don't think any frame needs to be capable of what you describe That being said, I've put 115 on my xcurve for training hikes, and the frame didn't look any different than with 65 or 95, so the frame is probably fine for whatever any rational person would ever actually put on it.

I guess I should have said, don't look OR FEEL any different. Obviously the weight felt heavier, but the belt, shoulder harness, etc all felt just as robust, didn't feel like failing or twisting or buckling or otherwise giving out in any way.

I hauled that load twice last year.... We did not have 300 pounds of meat. Thanks for the advise on the frame.

Wasn't saying it can't be done, and it would take a big elk to go 300 lbs of meat, was just saying, as a preface, that half of an elk may not be an appropriate standard to judge any pack by.
