Caylen Wojcik a good friend of the Stone Glacier guys and a former military sniper did a really good review of it on his Instagram page. It’s on IGTV on his page. He really liked it.Any reviews yet?
Good looking set up. Really thinking about this one, the weight is right and it looks like it would be plenty of room in there for myself and some gear. The issue I do see is the use of treking poles however. Because these would now be used to set up my sleeping shelter(good multiuse though) they would be unavailable when I ventured out to do day hunts. In alot of places I keep my treking poles on me or in my pack while hunting away from camp.
I think the idea of the Stone Glacier Sky Air is it being so light and compact it could be used in situations where you didn’t actually have a basecamp or spike camp and just carry everything on your back and camp where you end the hunt day. That way say you find a sheep or goat pretty far away from camp you just sleep at or near where you end up glassing it up at last light and get on it again at first light. That way the use of trekking poles isn’t an issue because you are gonna pull the whole set up as soon as you wake up and go after the animal. If you did use it as a base camp tent or I am thinking it would be possible to just by a set of tent poles to set up and leave it there. REI has some lightweight ones and KUIU had there poles on clearance recently.
I agree, and the design is also a great idea, unfortunately it’s not SG’s.I think the idea of the Stone Glacier Sky Air is it being so light and compact it could be used in situations where you didn’t actually have a basecamp or spike camp and just carry everything on your back and camp where you end the hunt day.
