I initially went with 5100. However, I found the center zip difficult to use when the pack was in bivy mode and was full. I even ordered the solo to compare both side by side and found the horseshoe zipper on the solo allowed me to fit more gear than the the 5100 in bivy mode. I returned the 5100 and got an serac for added room when needed and a day pack. Now this was before both the archer and the lid option for the solo. If I could do it again it would be tough to to decide between the solo w/ lid or the archer. I'm even playing with idea seeing if SG would be able to alter ,y solo so it would accept a lid.
It accepts the lid just fine. There are two tabs on the solo that accept a removable (don't know the proper name) buckles and then loop into the lid. My buddy has a solo and has used the lid just fine, it goes on the bag like all their other offerings.

I have the serac and the 7400. The 7400 in bivy mode is slightly large for my needs as a day pack and the serac a bit small. I really wish they would come out with a sky bag with the horseshoe zip like the Solo, but able to go into sky mode. The center zip can be a pain sometimes.

Just a tidbit:
I have the old Solo before the lids existed, so the lid mounting tabs arent on mine. I also have the terminus bag which came with a lid. I hook a strap to the bottom 2 compression straps(the 2 with the ladder lock instead of the buckle) using a 3 bar slider and that then hooks to any lid I want. I have SG lid(500CI), Kifaru XTL(600CI), and Kifaru Longhunter(1000CI), Kifaru std lid w/Large Belt Pouch, and they all fit really nice on the SG bags..
