Just venting. Not sure what else I can do.

A piece of human trash broke in to my families home and stole much of my gear. All my Kifaru which was a Duplex, Nomad, XTL, Grab It, Pouches etc. Tripod, outdoorsdmans adapter, and lots of miscellaneous. And....all of my reloading gear. I'm checking craigslist list and eBay but I think this will probably end up at a flea market or pawn shop and I'll never find it.

Hopefully it will be covered minus the deductible through homeowners. I really really hate thieves. Anything not nailed down in Arizona gets stolen. I live in Phx and we are too close to Mexico. But this happened at my home town 100 miles north which you'd think would have low crime.

Ouch. I was actually just talking with a buddy who is also an insurance rep last night about this very thing after reading another thread about theft of gear. I will be documenting all of my stuff and might get a rider on some of it if necessary. On my recent trip, my girlfriend were just talking as we were on a long drive and we got on the subject of the value of everything in the car. The number go really silly really fast and at the time, there wasn't very much of my hunting gear in there.

A few years ago I had a duffel and a few other things come off a trailer in the middle of South Dakota. Clothes, boots, and a pack, price to replace everything retail was about $3000. Yes, stuff adds up fast.

Yeah, little stuff adds up quick. Luckily no optics or guns involved. Its taken me a lifetime to build up what I have. I had to work for it.

fingers,

Definitely file a police report with descriptions of everything. Pawn shops have to check stuff that they take in to the list the PD puts out. You might get lucky and the thief might get unlucky at the same time.

I had someone break into my garage/shop back in 1989 and stole the largest whitetail mount I ever shot. Tore it right off the wall. Took nothing else. I was super bummed. Hell, still am.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I feel for ya man....

That sucks. It sounds like the suspect knew something about the value of your gear. It wasn't just some bubba saying, hey I think I will steal this pack because I like the color and not take other high value items out of the house like: electronics, firearms, bling, etc....

It sucks real bad! I have a buddy who came over to visit from out of state. Had all his ski, climbing, camera, camping, etc gear stolen out of the cab of his pickup at a trail head while we where out climbing for the day. Only thing he had left was the gear he had with him that day.

Any one of those activities your looking at several thousand dollars in gear!

We really all need to our part in watching each others backs, paying attention to whats going on at trail heads, NOT buying gear that you think is hot, ect.

That sucks....two things for everyone to check on their insurance coverage, as I handle homeowner claims. Check to see if you have a gun limit for theft and does your policy have replacement cost. Many don't and it is cheap to add so you have coverage to replace your gear.

I've got a 26" bikini and a long hunter lid you can have if you want it. They are both extras. I have the frame up for sale, but if you want it, I'll pull it down and send them to you.

I had the same thing happen to me out of my truck in my driveway. A pair of binos, Glock 29, and my tool bag under the back seat full of my road tool kit, tow strap and all of that kind of gear. Weird thing is under my work coat on the back seat was a brand new Backpacking tent I had ordered for my buddy and not given him was still there. Glad for that! I would hate to have to shell out the money to replace a tent I do not own! Gonna call my insurance company and see what they will cover.
