Stockys recoil pad issue

So I had an older Weatherby vanguard kicking around and got a stockys stock for it. My first impressions where very good I liked the look and it fit the barreled action perfectly! But day one on a four day bear hunt the recoil pad peeled halfway off I had the use medical tape to keep it attached. Has anyone else experienced this?

We have a few for vanguards and haven't experienced that.
