Just when I thought boots couldn't get any more expensive, I come across this video on YouTube. I know we all like high end gear here on Rokslide, so I couldn't help but share. This is next level. I'm pretty sure a pair of these are well beyond my means, but one can still appreciate artisan level craftsmanship.

Really neat video. Just great to see the craft. I wonder how many years of combined training and experience there are between the 5-6 workers who each have a hand in each pair of boots.

I agree. I couldn't stop watching it once it started. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.

I'm not sure on the price. I tried to visit the site from the YouTube link, but it timed out on me. Maybe they got swamped with business after that video came out. The hug of death, if you will 😁.

I'd assume they're quite expensive, though. Not only are they bespoke, but like you pointed out, several artisans play a hand in making each pair. They are probably as close to BIFL as boots can get.

That same YouTube channel has other cool stuff as well. The acoustic guitar video is dope.

You've never watched them build any Nick's boots on Amazon?

Trenton & Heath is another cool channel on YouTube that shows them rebuilding boots. Pretty cool stuff. Nick's will make you a bespoke pair of boots as well, and they're made here in the States.

If I was doing that work I would have cut some of my fingers off, smashed others, and stabbed my hand repeatedly with that needle. I can't imagine what they charge.

No doubt. There's something special about Japanese / Korean craftsmanship that I really appreciate.

agreed, how could anyone not appreciate that? watching it, i didn't realize anyone out there would still put that level of craftsmanship into a product they produced for someone else.... a little look into a lost art.... compare that to a pair of Nike shoes being built....

i bet he suffered his share getting to the point that he's at, becoming efficient as he has, it's pretty amazing. it's crazy his hands and wrists allow him to do that.... he might break your hand with a handshake, seems like doing that your whole life would cripple your hands, but he looks to be doing dang good..... a true professional at his craft

It's incredible. They all move with such deliberate precision. Not a movement wasted. I believe this particular outfit has been around since 1936.
