Steiner HX 8x42 - $299

On Amazon too, I’m very tempted but for some reason can’t bring myself to pull the trigger…

Thanks for posting this @Clearedhot1 just ordered a pair even though I don’t need another binocular. This could be the best value in glass in a while...

For some reason Steiner doesn’t get a lot of love in the hunting community lately (probably poor marketing), but the quality has been there since almost the last world war, for solid German-made optics.

They expanded their warranty in 2014 and sounds similar to the Vortex warranty, haven’t dealt with them personally.

Read the reviews on Adorama..people were happy at $800 price point...also looks like Sierra is now sold out of them, got mine on Adorama

I’ll never buy another Steiner after my experience with their customer service.

A couple of years ago, I needed repair of a 90s era 30mm tube, 56mm obj scope. I had a fall, causing a dent in the metal of the end of the objective. Four weeks and four emails (from me) later, I get a curt email that they will not repair, replace, or service my scope.

Apparently, the USA lifetime warranty that came with the scope when I bought it didn’t matter anymore. Needless to say, I no longer own any of their scopes, binoculars.

The email was basically one sentence. The unwillingness to repair and lack of any offer for replacement even at my cost were more irritating to me.
Others may have good experience with Steiner.
