Lil-Rokslider
Well I guess this is as good of a first post on Rokslide as any!
I am ready to jump head first into the sheep hunting world after chasing whitetail and elk most of my life. Thus far, I have done quite a bit of investigation into outfits in the NWT and the Yukon. I have been leaning toward a couple of NWT outfitters right now (Gana River, Arctic Red and Nahanni Butte), but am concerned we could have year 2 of lockdown up there, and possibly some of the outfitters go under. I don't want to put down a deposit and loose it due to foreign government madness.
Due to all of that, I am starting to look into Alaska as another option. I had marked it off the list due to slightly lower success rates than canada, the additional hunting pressure from locals, and the inability to hunt mountain caribou. The perk is obviously the lower cost and the ability to Harvest a grizzly (cant do that in the NWT).
I have a friend that hunted with Jonah's in the brooks successfully, and have some knowledge of henry tiffany in the brooks as well. But i am leaning towards looking at guides in the Wrangell's. I spoke with Cabot Pitts today about a new concession he assumed from another outfitter than had it for 20 years or so. I cant remember the name of the previous outfitter, but I have met Cabot a few times and have been impressed with him as a person thus far. My question is who else should I be considering in the Wrangell's beside Alaska Wild Wind (Cabot Pitts) and Ultima Thule?
appreciate any insight any of you guys can provide!
