Unfortunately, most of my whitetail hunting is done from stands these days, however I plan to transition to a saddle for some locations this fall.

I'm not a minimalist, but I carry no more than I have to. It goes without saying, but during cold weather, I carry additional clothing.

I'm looking for recommendations for a day pack specifically designed for stand hunters or what you feel would work well based upon your experience.

I love the Eberlestock X2.

It has enough pockets for some organization.

I also has vertical and horizontal straps on the back. You can strap on nearly anything... It will easily hold a tree stand and steps. I've also used it to carry a nice chair.

I even have DSD full size buck decoy. I can even strap that to the pack.

Right now, I have a tripod and my crossbow strapped to the pack. The crossbow is still in it's case.

I just use the 2200 pack on my K4 frame. I saddle hunt with a one stick and i've tried a bunch of smaller "day packs" but at the end of the day, I can strap my stick onto it, I can pack everything I need and if I shoot something I can pack it out. It also works well for carrying my blind in if I'm hunting with my boys.

Once I'm up at hunting height, I'll grab my pack hanger out of my side dump out, fasten it to the tree and hang my pack. I clip my waist belt around the try and I'm golden.

I've been using the MR Treehouse 20 the last few years. Nice layout
That's the one I seen, but couldn't recall what it was!

I like a top-loading pack. What's your typical loadout? It might help me decide between the 20 or 38. Any input would help.

All I do is stand hunting and got tired of carrying a pack that was mostly empty unless I stuffed a jacket in there so this year I switched to the kuiu scout 1000 and love it. I can still attach a jacket or whatever to it and has more than enough space.
I don’t carry a stand in or quarter up a deer in the field so that may change things for you if you do. I’ve tried a handful of packs for stand hunting (venture 2300, 1800, SG avail, alps, badlands, MR 28) and this is bar far my favorite!!

I have a treehouse 20, and it is perfect for stand hunting. It does get a little bit tight on space in the late season if I want to carry layers, but otherwise, it is perfect. Well thought out for the stand hunter for sure, things like the lid opens the opposite of most packs because it will be hooked up to the tree, etc.

I use a kuiu divide 1200 for early season and kuiu venture 2300 for mid/ late season. Both are great. The new 2200 that replaced my 2300 looks to be an upgrade in layout.
