You are correct in assuming that some of what you are experiencing is the bow itself holding you back.

Those short recurves are harder to be consistently accurate with vs a longer bow with more relaxed string angles. I don't know how anyone can even shoot those short Bear bows 3 under unless you have a very short DL.

Shooting split finger, your point on is much further which makes you less accurate at short bowhunting distances. We could debate that fact but there are really any Split finger shooters that can beat the 3 under guys at tournaments.

The forged F261 Junxing [sometimes sold as Exe Scream] is every bit as good as the Satori- if not better for $160....but it's made in China. I like it better than Satori or the Trad Tech riser which is significantly heavier.

Test drive the Stalker of South still offers that. I test drove 2 different Wolverines. Never took to them. Shot ILF for a few years and killed my first animals with an CD riser and Uukha’s. I wanted custom and I was fortunate to get on Trent Wengerd’s list before he closed his books. But without shooting different styles I would have never landed on the one I did. ILF lets you try a bunch of things at a lower cost than customs.

I was thinking the Kodiak you were shooting is shorter than 60"- I've only shot a couple Bear bows and it was many years ago. My comment about going a little longer is because not only is it smoother but it makes it easier to experiment with a fixed crawl- which is a deadly hunting strategy especially if you are a tree stand deer hunter. It's hard to crawl with a short bow.

Guys hunting with longbows that are 68" and they are fine. If you hunt out of a GB, then bow size matters.

I think you will like that P2P/Das setup. My lefty buddy shot Das for awhile and I shot that bow a lot. Good riser though a little heavy, good connection but not ILF- requires a mod. The Das limbs are about the same as every other low end ILF limb inc the Trad Tech- all are good....but you can do better by just buying a mid range name brand limb.

Sounds like you are looking on Lancaster. Have you seen Alt Services in the UK? Huge selection and great prices.

I have shot a lot of name brand limbs in the lower price range- $60-$175 and they are shockingly good. The WNS C3 and C5 limbs are incredible for under $150. If you want to bump up to a higher performance limb the Nika's -sold direct- are very good and are comparable to Uukha.

Agreed.

The avg GB fuggetit, most are too small for any trad bow.

I have a couple of the Bigger/taller GB's that I can shoot my 64" recurve from but it still limits your shot angles. I shot a 90" Coues buck from one with my recurve so it's not that bad.....

May as well buy once and cry once. Stalker all the way. It’ll be cheaper this route. This way you won’t buy four other risers and ILF limbs.

The 15' riser also makes an exceptional ILF longbow riser when paired with Javaman double carbon limbs. I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of South's ACS longbow limbs to test out.

I have set of 60 acs longbow limbs, 59lb at 28. I have a 25 inch draw so 49-50lbs on my fingers, they are barn burners and silent. 500 grain arrow at 165fps average at my 25 inch draw length.

He called me yesterday, making me a set of 56 inch static recurve limbs for my coyote…told him 52-53lbs at 25.

I had a 56 sl coyote that I picked up cheap, was 57lb at 28. Was just as fast as my acs limbs and honestly might have been just as silent, sold me on ordering a custom set to match my fxt riser.

I will post pictures and specs next week once I get em, get an arrow tuned up and plan on running em through as many critters as possible for the rest of the season!

45lb long gobis on a 19” P2P give me 192 with a 615gr arrow. I draw about 30.5.

What arrow and length are you using to get that light?

I’d love to find a longer lighter arrow to shoot from my longbow.

You must be using heavy inserts. Mine are Accmos 400’s, cut 31 3/8”, std inserts and a 145g head.

I’m jealous. It takes me 70lb compounds to get a 430 grain arrow moving 250 fps at my draw length haha.

Great thing is with the sticks it really doesn’t matter. I killed 14 deer last year with the stalkers so I gotta be doing something right!

Yeah, on short ambush shots its no big deal….

Im no speed demon or I would be shooting my Border limbs which are definitely faster.

The Uukhas and Nikas are pretty fast but more important they are smooth and quiet

There is definitely some cool stuff happening with some of these premium limbs, but some of you blokes have massive draw lengths.

I chronographed a 475gn arrow coming out of my 51# 19in Titan with medium Satori limbs and I got 171fps at my draw length. After I blow those arrows up I'll go up a spine and a bit more weight and it'll be a nice arrow for pigs and maybe some bucks in the rut.

I'm tempted to look at some Uukha limbs for bigger stuff but they don't really make them above 50#? I wonder what I could expect out of say, some uukha limbs at 52# on a 17in riser, shooting a 550gn arrow, for example?

15 inch jackal with 60inch acs longbow limbs using a 535 grain arrow drawn to 28 with a split finger release. Three shot group. That’s a 11.145 gpp arrow. I cleaned her up and shaved her down a little bit don’t have the pics as proof. I no longer have this particular set up as I’ve passed it along to Flingone on here.

For those on the fence about ACS hope this gives you some insight.

Those double carbon javamans are legit from others I have talked too and they swear they are the best ones out there I have a pair of backwoods composites and well let’s just say I’m still toying with them to get anywhere near the numbers that are posted on the website. I settled on selenagas with my 15 inch apex. And that 11gpp arrow is my fit.
