Wanting to try the V type stabs, like the Dead Level Hunter - v2 - 8" & 6" or something similar. Open to all brands and sizes. Mostly hunting. I been using the same 6" Donker for years but thinking the V bars could improve my accuracy. No chance of seeing or trying these so wanted some thoughts on what works for you and what you think I should be looking at. I choose the 8" & 6" to help keep the weight down but maybe thats looking at it wrong. Your thought Please. I shoot 50 to 55lbs with a 26 Dl on mostly bows with a 32-33 A to A.

Is this for hunting or target?

I wouldn’t suggest it for hunting myself, when one side bar will generally work.

If for target, I would go longer. The weight of the bar itself is negligible. The difference between a 6” and 10” bar is less than an ounce.

maybe I'm miss spoke, I thought the Dead Level hunter was a 8" center (foward facing) stab and a 6" rearward facing side stab. Or thats what I'm thinking about trying anyway. And yes mostly for hunting.

Ok, V bar set ups are two out the back, one on each side of the riser and one out the front. Just semantics.

What you are referring to is one front stabilizer and a side bar. Very common these days on hunting rigs. 8” and 6” are ok, but a lot will depend on where the side bar mounts. If it is on the front or rear of riser it will need to of the proper length. Generally a longer bar needs less weight to get the same effects of a shorter bar. Stabilization is a lot of trial and error. You need to play around with lengths and weight until your pin float moves the least amount and when it does move it moves slowly.

AAE also makes a set up called the western hunter I have been using it for the last 4 years not for hunting and IBO shoots and have been very happy with it. Beestinger makes one too that around 200$ but the side bar mount is a lot nicer then the AAE. That said you can get a bettee side bar mount for the AAE and still be in for less $ than the beestinger.

You really can't get a proper stabilizer set up with recommendations. If you are going to do it correctly then you have to try different combinations and weights to see what works best for you. Your best bet would be to show up to a 3-D shoot and see if you can get some different combinations to try. Either with vendors or shooters. An inch and a couple of oz's can make all the difference in the world. Other option would be to order more than you are going to need, try them out and send back what you don't want.

When you get the right combination it will be an aha moment. I wouldn't have believed this prior to trying it out for myself.

Thanks guys, sounds like I have more work to do. I do want that ahh moment. Sometimes I leave quiver on and sometimes not. So with new stabs a decision will need to be made. On or Off while shooting. Thanks for all the replies, I"ll see if I can find somewhere here in Kentucky to try them out.

Bee Stinger Elite QD Sidebar mount is what i use with 10" front, 8" back. I run 3 oz in front and 7 in back. The amount of weight will depend on the weight of your quiver, arrows, sight, and rest, as well as the balance of the bow itself and your form/grip/shooting style. My advice is to get extra weights and experiment.
