I was working up a load today for a 6BR. I have been using Reloader 15.5 but was hoping to try a ball powder so I can crank out a bunch of ammo on a progressive press.

SD and ES, as well as velocity were all excellent. Virtually indistinguishable with Staball Match from RL15.5. The only thing remaining is to see if it does well with temperature.

I live in Arizona, so I left 6 rounds, and the rifle, out on my shooting mat, in the HOT Arizona sun for thirty minutes. The rounds were so hot, they were uncomfortable to handle. This would be an extreme increase in temperature, unlikely to actually be experienced in a hunting situation.

The actual increase in velocity was only 23 fps. I didn’t see any signs of excess pressure whatsoever. I was shooting a 500 yard target and the rounds impacted an estimated .5-1 inch higher than the other rounds. I can’t tell you what cold weather would do and I realize this isn’t very scientific but if you’re considering this powder, it seems to perform very well with temp changes.

I have some Staball 6.5 that I want to test in the cold this winter to see how much it changes before I use it too.
I would use it with zero hesitation. We are going on 2.5 years of using it and have seen the same 16 to 20ish FPS increase when really really hot. Crazy accurate with a Sierra Match King target load and a 142gr Accubond hunting load on top of 43gr.

Does anyone have quickload? I want to try Staball6.5 in 6.5 creed. I run it at 70,000 psi though using alpha brass.

GRT is what I’m using now and it’s staball 6.5 numbers don’t line up.

142 MKX would be the bullet.
