Springfield Waypoint 6.5 prc gun and company problems

I know this thread is old, but for anyone who finds it in 2025 with this same issue or question.....because I found this thread the day I picked up my 2020 Waypoint 6.5prc and had a sinking feeling I had made an expensive mistake. The mag that comes with the rifle is crap and the brass scarring and feed issues were real.
I ordered two replacement magazines, The Hawkins Precision and an Amend2 AICS Short Action polymer mag from MagShack.com. Both magazines fixed the feeding and brass scarring problem. No modifications were needed to the rifle or magazine. The OEM magazine has so much play in all directions and is poorly designed. If you are having this problem its a simple fix. The rifle functions flawlessly with both the mags I purchased. No need to send back to Springfield or mess with any warranty. Seems to me the only place Springfield messed up with this rifle was including that stupid magazine.

thanks for posting this, I am close to deciding between a Springfield 2020 Redline with the magazine and 2020 Boundary with a floor plate. I will definitely check for free play in the magazine!

FYI, the Redline is only 308/6.5CM. They come with a Springfield branded MDT 3rd polymer mag. It fits and feeds perfectly.

The 6.5 PRC fellahs are the ones with the issues since they use metal mags for the extra cartridge length.

My 6creed waypoint had similar issues with the supplied mag. Bought a Hawkins and it solved issues. Tack driver.
