This post is kind of about the pistol, suppressor, and the loads I made for it. Seems like the loads were the most interesting part so putting it here instead of the firearms forum. I did a lot of research before purchasing the pistol and suppressor so I'm sharing for others that were in the same situation as me.
Got the Echelon with the threaded barrel a few weeks ago and the Obsidian 45. Finally took some time to build some loads for it this past weekend. Bought some 160gr Blue Bullets and some VV N320 for the occasion as I'd read it was very clean with light loads.
Shot some standard 115 FMJ reloads and factory ammo first. All supersonic. Very pleasant to shoot. No blowback whatsoever. Without earplugs the sonic crack was obvious but wasn't painful to my ears.
Then I loaded up some 160gr Blue Bullets with 3.0gr N320. Standard small pistol primers. Shot at around 850-860fps. No malfunctions through around 10-15 rounds. This is just plinking ammo so I wanted it as mild as possible. Loaded up some more at 2.6 gr. Shot at 800fps but about half of the rounds failed to fully eject. They would get caught sideways in the chamber and the next round in the magazine wasn't getting picked up. Slide wasn't getting all the way back. Bumped the charge back up to 2.9gr and I'm getting a consistent 845fps. 100% functionality and VERY mild to shoot. Zero blowback. Closest thing to "movie quiet" I've experienced. Reminded me of shooting subsonic 22s from a bolt gun.
Overall I'm very happy. New gun with new suppressor and new loads was very easy to get going. Going to make it a lot easier to plink near the house without scaring the dog.
