My first ever post on a forum! 24 years old from South Dakota. My true passion is bird hunting (pheasants & prairie grouse) deer and antelope for the short time its open, then back to birds. Followed this forum from the outside for sometime, enjoy reading the variety of topics discussed, Thanks!

Welcome from a SD native exiled to Oklahoma. Lots of good info on here. I might be a few years your Senior. Where are you located? Spent most of my youth in the hills but lived in Watertown until I was 8 or so. That was a LOOONG time ago though!! :)

Located in Rapid City! Keeps me busy no matter the time of year, fill the summers up with Mtn biking and fly fishing. One of my friends is from Watertown, pretty good hunting and walleye fishing in that neck of the woods.

I used to have a spot in Webster I hunted every year for a while. Hunters paradise for sure. Deer hunt in the am and PM, duck and pheasant hunt in between. Couldn't beat it. Still stay in touch with them but all their kids and grandkids hunt now. Have hunted in the hills a bunch of course and lately have been elk hunting in CO much more so don't get home much. Always hunted all the public a ton around Sturgis and had decent success over the years. Have a bunch of West River pref now and working on antelope and hills as well. I just really like elk hunting and always had limited vacation. Oh, that has changed as well.

I MTB also and is probably actually my main addiction at this point, even over hunting :). Currently nursing a couple of broken ribs from a crash last month. I've ridden most of the trails up there, at least in the northern hills and have done the Dakota 5-O four or five times, although I am not a racer. We just did it for the party. One of my HS classmates is the trail boss for all the Sturgis trails. I bring the bike and ride every time I am up there.

My dad and brother are both walleye fanatics, but brother moved from Rapid to Wisconsin a few years ago, although the fishing is good there too. He lived in Hot springs as well and they hammered Angustora for years and years. Dad is in his 80's but is still out a couple of times per week, mostly Orman. We fished all the hills lakes a ton growing up. Lots of flies, but redneck method (spincast and clear bobbers). I do have a fly rod but rarely gets used and I am not that good at it.

Anyway, welcome. I'll always chime in on anything SD, except elk there as I have no shot...lol.

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new member.

P.S. Dang, but I almost missed your FNG post, but I am getting better at this. :D
