Any one have an Affordable spring black bear guide recommendation ? Either in the states or Canada ? I’ve seen a few on BookYourHunt, but rather have someone that’s had personal experience recommend an outfitter.

Yeah, there's all-inclusive one-on-one and two-on-one hunts for big coastal black bear in Alaska, that range in price from $5,000 per person to $8,000 per person.

@Brooks051 I’ve been with Pacific Bear Outfitters in BC twice. Can’t recommend them enough. Easy to get to. Couple hour drive from Vancouver. Guide will pick you up at your hotel in Vancouver, so if you fly to Vancouver, you don’t need to worry about renting a car. Spot and stalk. Stay in wall tents. Have a blast. Give them a call.

Do they guide archery hunters as well?

Yes. Clay Newcomb, now with meat eater, used to have a video of him on an archery hunt with them. Like all guides, they prefer clients with rifles. The bear I killed this year was taken at 30 yards. The one I killed last year was at 60 yards. You can get close.

Their operation looks like it is tailored to rifle spot and stalk. I see that bait is illegal in BC. A traditional archery spot and stalk would be tough there. A rifle hunt is interesting too though.

Oh yeah, I doubt spot and stalk trad archery is easy anywhere. Shoot, that would be hard with modern archery equipment. Hats off to y’all who have done that. I’ve gotten close enough to do it, but that’s only half the battle.
