I’ve never hunted them. Had some pretty cool encounters on the ground with them while elk hunting. One of us in the group carries the sidearm in the fall. I’m thinking I might need to bring one just in case. I’m going with an outfitter Idaho 15 I’ll be on bait and alone so that’s what raised my concern a little. Idaho game and fish site warns of grizzly in the unit.

I always have one if archery hunting. Not specifically for bears, just whatever.

That or spray…whichever you feel more comfortable using.

I shoot my pistol a lot in the summer, I’m fast and intuitive with it…so I go with theG20 and 200g Double tap hard cast.

I always carry a pistol when bowhunting, usally my G20 10 mm with my hand loads. I use to do a duty qualification with it and scored the same as my duty pistol which was a G22 40 cal.
If you do carry one practice a lot and have it on you and not in your pack.

The odds of you needing a backup weapon is low…..but when you do…you do.

Spend some time with it before the hunt doing quick draw and shoot Drills.
