Spring Bear Montana/Idaho Partner

Will be my third trip out west for a spring bear hunt. Looking for someone to tag along this spring. Would like to hunt with someone I can learn from with some experience. I Have all the gear needed.

My kid wants to kill a bear so I’ve been thinking about doing spring bear this year. If we do it you’re welcome to team up with us.

What general areas in either state are you looking at hunting? Were you thinking of backpacking and setting up a Basecamp, or just hiking in from a trailhead everyday?

I am interested if going in unit 10/lolo area could do some early scouting while im there for later elk season

Idaho has black bears all over the place. It's an unusual year that a black bear isn't seen in Boise. I would offer this advice to someone new to bear hunting in Idaho or Montana: avoid the units that grizzlies inhabit. In Idaho, they are designated by warnings in the Idaho Fish and Game Big Game hunting guides. Shooting a griz by mistake has cost hunters in Idaho and Montana thousands.
