I was out bear hunting Monday evening and I sat in a lower elevation cut. I counted 8 blacktail within 600 yards of me come out and feed just before dark. The cut is only approx 600y x 600y. Obviously I’m going to sit on the cut at least one evening a week or so before rifle deer season to verify, but I was wondering if it may be a waste of time. I’m just wondering if anyone has similar experience with blacktail staying there all spring/summer/early fall? As far as room to move to higher elevation, they are at 2800ft elevation. The highest peak in the area is about 3 miles away and it is just over 7k. They are basically at the base of the mountain. The farm is right at 1400ft and we have the same group of deer here all year, until the rut kicks off.
