Spring bar

Looking into getting a spring bar tent made by Kirk hams out of salt lake. Mainly for a smaller alternative to a wall tent for oct deer hunting! Anybody have any experience with these good or bad thought I’d check here before I spent 800 bucks and regret it thanks

I've seen plenty of them in my time and no doubt they make a quality product but I went with a Kodiak instead. When I compared the two I liked a few features of the Kodiak better (thicker floor, much better storage bag design, etc.). Overall they are a very similar design and will both last a lifetime if cared for properly, I just felt like the Kodiak was a better value and it's been an awesome tent for base camp or similar use.

Good to know that’s the one carried by cabelas correct? I like the idea of a thicker floor that’s probably a good enough reason really! What size do ya have?

Kodiak are the Chinese knockoff of spring bar tents. People seem to have good luck with both. My family has a spring bar that's been in use for over 40 years so I'm sure that investment in top of the line canvas wasn't regretted.

I have the Kodiak 10X14 and also the 8x9 for when solo. no complaints other than the little patio cover piece just don't work that well, I setup a pop up canopy in front with a tarp running over the top of both making them as one roof cover

Yes, Cabela's carries them, among other places. I have the 10x14 and it's been a great tent for me. I've had it for about 7 years now. The only place showing wear is the pole bag.

I stake the porch out so one side is higher than the other so the rain runs off that side rather than pooling. That way you can at least get one side up a bit higher and out of the way for accessing the tent. Or you can just roll it up and not use it but I like to use it when it's hot out.

I had originally considered a Chinese knock off, or the imported line that Springbar sells. I was set on the Family Camper, but liked the Skyliner. I traveled to their facility in SLC. Wow. After seeing and feeling the process im embarrassed I even considered "better value" imports. I walked out with the Skyliner after our tour. Had a good conversation with Jack, the owner, before leaving. Pleased beyond my expectations.

It’s nice to see an American and outdoorsman choose USA and support fellow working Americans on a similar product. Thank you

It was hard to swallow the price difference looking at a website, to be completely honest. Once you meet the faces and shake the hands of those who are actually building the product, it's a no brainer!

Had the Kodiak and was on the side of recommending it until the time came to need customer service when it ripped at the bottom floor/wall seem in high winds. You’ll even see me recommend it in above post!

Never was successful in getting in touch with them and I tried many many times. Ate my losses and got a spring bar. Much better floor/wall design. Then I got the leisure port. Love it too

Had one thread pop on the leisure port and have had GREAT customer service and repairs. Forget the Chinese knock off you’ll save money in the long run!!

MERICA!

Purchased my Springbar in 2004 and still putting many days a year on it. Nothing on it has worn out or not functioning as new. The floor always has cots on it and has held up water tight also. Nothing but praise for an extremely well built USA product.

My Springbar is going on 20 years now and has never let me down in any wind or weather. Still looks as good as the day I bought it.

I ordered a Springbar classic jack 10x10 this spring. Was going to go with a Kodiak 10x14 but it wouldn't have fit on most of the tent pads in the MN state parks. Ordered the portico panels to go with it and really happy with my decision so far.
