Apologies if this is in the wrong thread. Feel free to delete if so.

Hello. I recently purchased a gen 1 Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85. I am 19 years old and just starting to buy my first few pieces of solid equipment.

My main question is about a tripod/ fluid head. I know next to nothing about tripods and heads other than the tripod that I have currently is a cheap piece of junk and I desperately need a better one. I have no idea where to go from here though.

I am mainly a whitetail hunter as I live in Kansas. I primarily use my spotter for scouting in the summer in big ag fields. I eventually want to go on some elk hunts out west which is out of the question for now but would like to keep that in mind when looking for a tripod.

My main objective is for this tripod to be sturdy. I don't care as much about it being lightweight as I'm am very rarely carrying it in a backpack. As for price range, I would like to get a pretty good bang for my buck with my upper price range being around 300-350. If I could get away with something a little cheaper I definitely wouldn't mind it though.

I appreciate any and all help. Thanks!

Find a used Sirui VA-5 head for whatever tripod you decide on if glassing is your intended purpose. It isn't too heavy and is a really great head.

Happy to help you out. We carry a wide assortment of tripods. As a bonus for being a forum member use the promo code promo24 at checkout and get 10% off on any tripod we sell, even the sale tripods
Our best bet would be the Benro Rhino Carbon Fiber One Series Tripod - Monopod FRHN14C + Benro S2Pro Flat Base Video Head S2PRO. Normally $329.90, but with the promo code it would be $296.91, including ground shipping. This is Cerbin Fiber, Very Sturdy and the head is Arca

Another popular outfit for a very sturdy tripod with a fluid head would be the Slik CF-734 with fluid head kit

Also since the last Shot Show we have become a Leofoto dealer. They make amazing tripods

Here is the link to see their line up

Very popular as well is the Benro

Feel free to call me at 516-217-1000 to discuss the options

Thank you
