I do especially when I plan to strap it to the outside of my pack when I'm moving from glassing point to glassing point. Small price to pay in weight and cost to protect something like that.

I use a neoprene cover on my spotter. It provides good protection, it's light, and cheap. No way I was going to spend $300 on a Swarovski case.

I run the neoprene one that came with my leupold with lens caps but I’ve been thinking about getting a marsupial case just for a little better protection

No cover, just a neoprene Kozy over the eyepiece and the stock objective cap on the angled Swaro ATM 20-60x65. After 11 plus years of use including a lot of back packing and back country use it still looks good. It is rubber armoured so has a lot of built in protection.

I had a stay-on cover on my Vortex, a stay-on cover on my KOWA 884, and I am currently have a KOWA 99S that is heavily wrapped in vet tape, but I see KOWA finally released their stay-on cover for the 99's so I need to get one ordered. When you spend that much money on a alfa spotting scope you want it protected as best as you can.

I slip a large old-fashioned wool sock over the spotter, fold over the extra material around the eyepiece, and then put that inside a small dry bag.

I’ve been thinking about the same thing. I’ll probably just stick it in the side pocket and not put anything hard in there with it. That seems like enough for me. Though if I had a multi thousand dollar Alpha instead of my multi hundred dollar Leupold 15-30x50 I may feel differently.

Well I ordered one for my Zeiss, I was fishing to see if anyone had a lot of frustrations with the cons of some cases like limiting focus wheel access or rotation collar knob but since it’s basically unanimous I picked one up.

I run a cover on my swaro. Yes, it is way overpriced for what it is but it adds almost no weight to protects a $3k investment.

No cover for me. Just the objective lens cap and neoprene cap on the ocular lens. I put it into the side pocket of my pack so not worried about scratches. Swaro STS 65. Its not a weight thing for me I just did not like the feel of the neoprene sleeve and it seems irrelevant since it rides inside the pack when not on the tripod.

I'm not particularly hard on my gear even though it gets thoroughly used hear after year. My ATS only wears lens covers and it lives in the side pocket of my pack with some soft goods only coming out to go onto a properly setup tripod. Years of sheep and everything else hunting and it still looks just fine. I know some people that should have a cover because they are extremely rough on things whether that be to lack of finesse or attention to detail, idk. For me, it just isn't needed and I figured Swaro put that rubber on the outside for a reason.
