Sportsman Friendly Credit Cards

Na I much prefer to use the CC company's cash all month then pay the bill. Once upon a time using cash was great but today it just doesn't work with online ordering and if you say purchase local I will say I would if local had anything I wanted or the prices weren't totally out of line with online prices.

Drives me crazy when road tripping and the cars are stacked up 3 deep at the gas pump because someone can't figure out that you need to have a CC to get gas anymore, they pull up to the pump, stroll inside, take a pee, stand in line for 5 plus minutes waiting there turn then stroll back to the pump to finally pump there gas.

I quit using the pay at the pump. Skimmers are constantly showing up around here. I figured it's not worth the headache even if I get my money back. I purchase most of my fuel from the same couple of stations. I can hit pay inside, fuel up, pull out of the pump lane and go inside to pay with the CC. Not many places let you do that anymore.

You are missing out. My wife and I pay for every single thing we can on a credit card, including daycare for the kiddos. I use it for work as well. We have never NOT paid off the entire balance at the end of the month.

Our card has paid for flights for our family twice a year for the last 4 years as well as an upcoming trip to Kodiak for my dad and I and we are still sitting on almost $4k worth of points to use.

That is good you can do that, but like someone else said, not the norm. I would guess 80% of the people on this form have credit card and other debt. The math never works out if you carry debt. If you are disciplined enough to do it, great, but most can’t handle it.

Citi double cash 2% back on everything. Just make sure to pay it off every month. You can use the cash back on anything you want

I had it with Capital One and Cabelas today, and went and cancelled my credit card. That was the only card I had. What's a good option for a replacement credit card?
I’ve had a discover card for quite some time. 5% cash back on certain purchases that rotate quarterly. The gas quarter and travel quarter we make some serious money. No clue if they’re sportsman friendly but we don’t pay them a dime so I’m not too worried.

find a 0 apr card for up to 18 months.. if you spend enough you can get skymiles and other rewards and pay it off without interest depending on what card you get. ive done it on a couple different big purchases. You have to use credit cards in life in order to get credit.. may as well reap the benefits while your at it.. or you can just pay cash on everything and have weak credit..

They are still making money, whether you pay them off every month or not. Every retailer that you use a credit card at, is charged a fee, which goes back to the credit card company. Just using it still lines the pockets of a group that could possibly be unfriendly to sportsman.

Yup. Lots of people think they are “screwing” the CC company because they pay off the balance each month. It’s a Jedi mind trick, they’ve already got their share, the interest is a penalty.

I pay for literally everything with a credit card. My wife and I are going to Maui in January and literally the entire trip is being paid for in credit card rewards that I've accrued this year alone, it's a no-brainer. I've never carried a balance on it, we use MINT to budget, but everything from daycare to groceries gets put on plastic.

If you're a business owner 80k points with Chase ink is tough to beat for a sign-up bonus, and long term the capital one spark miles has 50k sign up with 2% back, I use these for my rentals. Personal cards we have Chase Saphire (good sign-up bonus, pretty average long term), Capital One Venture (2% back on everything, 50k sign-up), Amazon 5% back, and BP for gas. If you're stupid with money, yeah it's a terrible idea, but I'm not stupid with money. I don't spend more because I use CC's.

I started a thread on another forum with what I use as my strategy and some options that I like. Shoot me any questions, I love this stuff. If you want to sign up for any of the chase ones let someone get a bonus for referring you (couldn't care less if it's me, but someone should get it anyway).
