What are the differences in the "feel" against your back/shoulders of a Late Season versus a DT3?

I personally think that the late season is the most comfortable suspension against the back. The torso pads are flat like the bikini but larger so they spread the pressure out evenly. I wish the bikini had the same torso pads as the late season. The duplex put the most pressure but it was never uncomfortable. On the late season the pads are also independent of each other so they can twist with your body unlike a duplex or bikini which are rigid.

None....unless you bend the stays different.

The DT3 is stiffer/more rigid.

You can get aluminum or composite with the Late Season.

I agree. The late Seaon is a very comfortable pack. It is my go to day pack. Cinches down small when empty yet big enough to carry a quarter out. Super comfy pack on my back thou. But like Aron said, both packs are comfortable.

I tried the duplex but really think it was more than I needed for my style of hunting here in the south and just didn't seem to get it dialed in. I tried a badlands after the duplex and it did not work well at all for me- 50# in a 2200 is not, IMO, what that pack was designed for. That said, it worksfor some but I found it painful (I have to be careful since I've had my back cut on). It was then that I started searching for the definition of "comfort" as defined by pack hunters. Overall, i don't really think it has much to do with an empty pack. Although I do want a pack that rides comfy on my shld blades w/ or w/out a load (I don't stay overnight yet just haul the days kill).

How much weight do you think you will be carrying most of the time? It sounds to me that you would love a late season or just the regular t3 or t2. The other option for you is the bikini, which is also more comfortable with lighter weights than the duplex. When you say comfy on your shoulder blades, what was the problem with the duplex?

The pads felt like they were poking me right at the base of my shldr blades- kinda like an itch I couldn't scratch feeling. I talked it over w/ Aron (real helpful) and bent the stays but ultimately decided it wasn't the best fit for me. I am still searching for the right one. I do not plan to carry more than 50 or so pounds now. The way I hunt, I can make two meat trips if needed.

If you are only carrying 50# or less, the LS is an awesome pack. It is very comfortable and capable. Just make sure you figure out a way to organize your gear. Other than a mesh compartment under the lid, there is no internal organization.

Trying to decide on a day pack that will work for hauling meat as well. Looking around 3000, SG solo, ligature late season, MR dragonslayer and maybe new kuiu

I used the Grab It to haul quarters because I did not want to put meat in the main bag. For a day pack I think the LS or Spike Camp would be perfect. However, for multiple day hunts and hauling elk quarters, I would go to a Duplex or Bikini frame.

Not telling you what to buy at all, but take the MR Dragonslayer off your list. It's a great pack, but not worth much for load hauling.

The late season opening is plenty big enough to haul a qtr inside. It has a bigger opening than a t3 bag. You do lose out on the extra pockets but its easy to just add some belt pouches or long pockets.

Fifty pounds feels great in a late season and should have no problem at all carrying that weight.

Yep this ^^guy. Bigger opening and add pouches if you want. Late season handles elk quarters like a champ. I've packed out a whole mule deer buck before in a late season.
